Our hospital has always been at the forefront of adopting newer and more advanced technologies when it comes to spectacle removal laser surgery. Right from the early days of 1998 when first excimer lasers ( Lasik Laser ) were being installed in the country our center became the third center in entire India and first in state of Uttar Pradesh to have it installed.
Going further it became one of the earliest eye hospitals to have inducted the more advanced Femto Laser technology to perform Bladeless / Femto / Contoura Lasik Laser. Currently it is the only private eye hospital in U.P and one of the few in entire country to offer the most advanced flapless Relex SMILE / ELITA Silk techniques.
This is the oldest proven laser technique for spectacle removal till today where corneal flap is created by a micro keratome machine manually followed by ablation of cornea to remove spectacle power by excimer laser / Lasik laser beams. However this technique is becoming obsolete due to the advent of better Femto laser and Flapless SMILE techniques.
Amachine (microkeratome ) consisting of multiple blades runs over the eye and creates flap of cornea which is then raised by the surgeon.
Laser beams from excimer laser (LASIK) work on exposed corneal tissue to flatten the corneal curvature.
Corneal flap created is then reposited by the surgeon.
This is a more advanced laser technique where the use of manual microkeratome to create the corneal flap is replaced with a femto laser machine which creates a much thinner and more precise flap. This is then followed by corneal ablation to remove power with excimer laser. Thus a combination of two lasers is used to achieve desired results. This technique is also popularly known as a robotic technique as there is almost no manual intervention in performing surgery.
Femto Laser beams are used to create the corneal flap which is raised by the sugeon.
Laser beams from excimer laser flatten the corneal curvature.
Corneal flap created is then reposited by the surgeon.
This is the most advanced state of the art laser technology as of today. The biggest advantage of this technique is that no corneal flap has to be created for laser to work. Laser beams directly create a stromal lenticule in center of the cornea and then via a micro incision of 2mm stromal lenticule is removed and corneal ablation is achieved. Thus the strength and integrity of the cornea in this flapless technique for the future remains maximum compared to above mentioned older techniques where creation of corneal flap is a must.
Laser beams work directly inside the cornea to createa disc shaped corneal tissue called a lenticule.
Laser beams create a 2mm incision on the cornea.
Surgeon removes the disc shaped corneal tissue (lenticule) from 2mm incision which flattens the corneal curvature.
Refractive error of 7-D myopia, +5D hyperopia and 5D of astigmatism (cylindrical error) can be corrected with Lasik.
Femto Lasik and Relex Smile enable us to remove as high as -1D of refractive error. This could even be higher ni patients with more than average corneal thickness.
Very high refractive errors can be corrected by implantable contact lenses (ICL / IPCL). ICL / IPCL can correct upto -23D of myopia and +20D of hypermetropia.
