Netra Bhawan Eye Hospital began in January 1992 as a small nursing home founded by Dr. Ashok Pachauri, a pioneer in Micro Incision Cataract and LASIK Laser Surgery in North India. The hospital quickly gained recognition, becoming the first in Uttar Pradesh to introduce stitchless phacoemulsification cataract surgery in 1996. By 1998, Netra Bhawan became the first in North India and the third in India to install a LASIK Laser machine for spectacle removal surgery. Patients from across the region, including Patna, Prayagraj, Varanasi, and even Rajasthan, traveled to Agra for this advanced treatment.
In 2001, a second branch was opened in Kanpur to cater to Laser Eye Surgery patients from Eastern Uttar Pradesh. The hospital has consistently led the way in adopting cutting-edge technologies, upgrading from first-generation LASIK to Femto Bladeless LASIK and the latest Relex SMILE Laser. As of 2024, Netra Bhawan remains the only private eye hospital in Uttar Pradesh, aside from Sanjay Gandhi PGI in Lucknow, to offer RELEX SMILE laser eye surgeries.
Netra Bhawan has become synonymous with quality eye care, known for performing advanced surgeries with state-of-the-art equipment at affordable costs. Today, the hospital operates three branches—two in Agra and one in Dholpur, Rajasthan. The Center of Excellence in Sanjay Place, Agra, houses dedicated departments for Retina, Pediatric Ophthalmology, Refractive Surgery, and Cataract and IOL implantation, all led by experienced specialists.
Our endeavor at Netra Bhawan for the past 32 years has been to provide best in class eye healthcare services to the local population of our city and adjoining districts with the help of ever evolving cutting edge technology. The technological advances related to eye healthcare have grown by leaps and bounds over the past three decades. It has been constantly challenging to keep up with them financially and then to provide those services at a reasonable cost affordable to the demography of the area.
